Editorial notes
Company overview
AskMyCareer is an AI interview-preparation workspace launched in 2026 by a small Melbourne-based operator. Candidates build a "career graph" from their own work history. The AI Coach then compares it against a target role to produce readiness feedback, mock-interview questions, answer scoring and an action plan, and the same evidence feeds resume generation, a job tracker and a Chrome autofill extension. Its distinctive feature is the shared chat link: the candidate chooses which career-graph sections an interviewer can query through an AI before the interview, and the link expires, shows view counts and can be revoked. It is a preparation tool, not a live in-interview copilot. Pricing is a free tier plus one-month ($19) or three-month ($45) passes that do not auto-renew.
Regulatory exposure
For job seekers, the main risks are data scope and the honesty of AI output, not account bans. The product does not ask for job-board or email passwords, and the autofill extension skips password and hidden fields and never submits an application. The privacy policy says personal information is not sold to AI providers and that Career Graphs can be deleted on request. It does not say whether user content trains models, names no subprocessors, makes no encryption-at-rest or SOC 2 claim, and leaves retention open-ended. Data may be processed outside Australia. On honesty, the product frames AI wording as a draft for the user to verify and asks for missing evidence rather than filling gaps. The terms state that AI output is not a background check. Still, a shared chat link puts an AI that speaks for the candidate in front of an employer, so candidates should check that every answer it can give is backed by their own confirmed facts.
Path to a higher score
To score higher, AskMyCareer should identify the legal entity and people behind the product (for example an ABN, a named founder and an address), publish a security page covering encryption at rest, a subprocessor list, a retention schedule and a clear statement on model training, and offer a pro-rata or cooling-off refund on unused passes. Independent evidence would also help: user reviews or published outcome data on interview readiness or offer rates, and a public log of how the shared chat AI handles questions the candidate's evidence cannot answer.
Risk frame
What applies to AI career coaching.
Advisory rather than decisioning; the concern is the quality and accountability of AI advice and how personal career data - including recorded practice answers - is stored and used.
