These figures measure how thoroughly Interview Sidekick was reviewed, not how Interview Sidekick performed — an absence row, recording that nothing was located, is counted like any other item.

Application Honesty

4 items18
  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The homepage sells the live copilot as "Listens to the conversation and feeds you answers your interviewer never sees," positioning concealment from the interviewer as the feature rather than a side effect.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The terms of service contain no honesty, disclosure or misrepresentation provision governing use of the AI during a real interview; the prohibited-activities section addresses platform conduct only.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/terms-of-service

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Marketing shows the AI composing specific STAR-format claims for the candidate to speak aloud (e.g. a worked example ending "Shipped 15% under budget") with no verification step tying generated specifics to the user's actual history.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026

We searched the homepage, pricing page, FAQ, terms and privacy policy for any no-fabrication guardrail, accuracy warning or instruction to verify AI-suggested claims before speaking them, and found none.

Data & Credential Safety

6 items28
  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The privacy policy states "We retain data as long as we deem necessary" and "Data may not be deleted upon request unless mandated by law," and adds "We do not guarantee data access, correction, deletion, or portability... We may deny or ignore requests at our discretion."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/privacy-policy

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Last updated July 2024, the policy enumerates only name, email, login credentials, usage and device data — it never mentions resumes, interview audio or transcripts, despite the product capturing and storing all three.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/privacy-policy

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The pricing FAQ confirms retention by default: "We don't delete your account data when you cancel, so you can pick up where you left off if you resubscribe."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/pricing

  • Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The FAQ asserts "We use current best practices for data storage and security" and that transcripts are "only accessible to you," which conflicts with the privacy policy's own disclaimer that it cannot guarantee security and may share data with service providers and in business transfers.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

  • Product featureCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Sign-in is via Google OAuth and audio is captured locally or by tab share; the tool requests no job-board, LinkedIn or email passwords, so the credential-theft exposure common to auto-apply tools does not apply here.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

  • AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026

We searched the site for a security or trust page and checked /security, /company and /about — all 404 — and found no SOC 2 claim, encryption detail, subprocessor list, DPA or statement that data is not sold.

User Control & Transparency

4 items42
  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Suggestions are displayed on an overlay for the candidate to use or ignore, and the free tier's limits (2-minute sessions, limited prep and question-bank access) are stated plainly, so the user retains full control over what they actually say.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Stealth Mode is a user-controlled toggle and the FAQ documents a keyboard shortcut for it, with transcripts saved to the account and viewable in a Transcript tab during the session.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

AI use is concealed from the interviewer by design rather than disclosed: "100% Invisible on Screen Share" and "Your interviewer sees your screen, never the app."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026

One genuine transparency credit: the FAQ volunteers "One honest caveat: this protects against in-browser focus and tab-switch detection. It does not defeat dedicated lockdown browsers (such as Respondus LockDown Browser or ProctorU's secure client)... no overlay tool can do that."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

Employer & ATS Legitimacy

4 items20
  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The site claims the tool is "Tested and verified undetectable on all major video conferencing and coding assessment platforms," listing CoderPad, HackerRank, LeetCode and CodeSignal alongside Zoom, Teams, Meet and Webex.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Stealth Mode is built to defeat system inspection: "Disguised in Activity Monitor and Task Manager — It runs under the process name SystemAgent, so a search for 'Interview' or 'Sidekick' finds nothing."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The overlay is deliberately built as a non-activating window so that "Proctored assessments that watch for focus changes or tab-switches (the browser's visibilitychange and window-blur signals) won't see anything."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

  • AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026

We searched the homepage, FAQ and terms for any warning that live AI assistance may breach employer or assessment-platform rules, risk disqualification or a rescinded offer, or implicate two-party-consent recording laws when transcribing an interviewer, and found no such guidance.

Have a URL that disputes this?

Effectiveness Evidence

5 items25
  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The homepage claims "Trusted by 737,000+ job seekers" and "4.8 / 5.0" "from 2,500+ reviews" without naming the review platform, while a lower section of the same page says "Used by 700,000+ job seekers."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The only verifiable third-party rating we located is Trustpilot, showing 3.9 out of 5 from just 7 reviews — far short of the site's unattributed "4.8 from 2,500+ reviews."

    https://www.trustpilot.com/review/interviewsidekick.com

  • Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The founder's own portfolio site describes Interview Sidekick as having "500k+ users," a third figure inconsistent with the 737,000+ and 700,000+ claims on the product site.

    https://www.benbroch.com/

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Outcome evidence consists of first-name testimonials tagged "Hired at" Amazon, Google, Meta, Apple, Salesforce and Netflix, repeated in a carousel, with no verifiable identities or methodology.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026

We searched the site and the open web for published response rates, interview-conversion or offer-rate data, or any third-party study or audit of the undetectability claim, and found none — the claim "Tested this week for undetectability" is accompanied by no methodology or report.

Pricing & Cancellation Fairness

6 items48
  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Cancellation is easy and documented step-by-step: "You do not need to email us to cancel. It can be done entirely through the website in under a minute," with access retained to the end of the billing period.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The refund policy is absolute — "We do not offer refunds" and "all sales are final" — justified only by unlimited free 2-minute test sessions, a thin basis for evaluating answer quality across a full interview at $80/month.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The page titled "Simple, Transparent Pricing" lists no price at all; its feature list also describes only prep features, omitting the real-time assistance and Stealth Mode that the homepage sells as headline capabilities.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/pricing

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Pricing is shown only on the homepage as "$160 50% OFF $80 / month" behind a persistent "Limited-time offer" banner and code SAVE50, a reference-price and urgency framing around the price users actually pay.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Terms section 25 states trial users "must register for a trial and provide valid payment information" and are auto-charged if they do not cancel before expiry, contradicting the homepage and pricing page promise of "No credit card required to start."

    https://interviewsidekick.com/terms-of-service

  • AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The word "refund" does not appear anywhere in the terms of service; the no-refund policy is stated only in the FAQ, not in the binding agreement.

Support & Accountability

5 items48
  • Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The founder is publicly identified as Ben Broch with a verifiable history (Amazon operations finance and senior product manager 2016-2021, first product hire at YellowHeart 2021-2023) and a portfolio of other shipped products, so this is not an anonymous disposable brand.

    https://www.benbroch.com/

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

Third-party company data confirms Interview Sidekick as a New York-based, unfunded company founded by Ben Broch, consistent with a solo operator rather than a staffed organisation.

    https://tracxn.com/d/companies/interview-sidekick/__vAPkINvYAangr1axMuMuYf3PC62MkSFTl33fRGVaecU

  • DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The FAQ is unusually thorough on operational support — audio troubleshooting, cross-device subscription linking, account-mismatch fixes — all routed to a single personal address, ben@interviewsidekick.com, with "priority customer support" reserved for paying users.

    https://interviewsidekick.com/faq

  • Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026

The company has replied to 100% of negative Trustpilot reviews, though typically within about a month and across a very small sample of 7 reviews total.

    https://www.trustpilot.com/review/interviewsidekick.com

  • AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026

We checked /about, /about-us, /team, /company and /contact — all return 404, meaning the footer's own Contact link is broken — and no legal entity name, registered address, phone, live chat or status page is published anywhere on the site.

§ 05 - Editorial notes

§ Risk frame

What applies to live interview assistance.

The risk sits almost entirely with the job seeker. Employers state that undisclosed AI assistance during an interview can be grounds for withdrawing an application, and tools here are frequently sold on remaining invisible to the interviewer. What matters is whether the tool tells the user to disclose it, whether it captures the interviewer's audio without their knowledge, and what becomes of that recording.
