Application Honesty
4 items68
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The AI resume builder page states the tool is "Built from your real experience only, with no AI hallucinations or invented facts" and that "Every rewrite and suggestion is grounded in your real experience, never invented."
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
A "Responsible AI" clause in the Terms says AI "should always complement—never replace—your personal judgment" and recommends users "review all AI-generated content to ensure it accurately represents your experience and values."
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The 27-check resume checker devotes four checks to "Recruiter red flags" and scores content on measurable accomplishments, flagging ambiguous claims and unclear impact rather than rewarding embellishment.
- AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026
No published audit, red-team result, model card or worked example demonstrates that the no-fabrication guardrail actually blocks inflated claims; the assertion rests entirely on Enhancv's own marketing and ToS language.
Data & Credential Safety
5 items60
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
LinkedIn import works by pasting a public profile URL or uploading a PDF export, so Enhancv never requests LinkedIn login credentials.
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The privacy policy names Enhancv R&D in Sofia as controller under GDPR and UK GDPR, lists sub-processors including OpenAI, HrFlow.ai, Paddle, Braintree, AWS and MongoDB Atlas, uses Google/LinkedIn/Facebook OAuth 2.0 for logins, and states it has "not sold or shared any personal information to third parties for a business or commercial purpose in the preceding twelve (12) months."
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The Terms add an explicit commitment that "We do not sell or share your personal data with AI model providers."
- AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The privacy policy contains zero mentions of encryption, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 — only generic "appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures" — and it is silent on whether resume content is used to train AI models; /security/, /trust/, /compliance/, /gdpr/ and /dpa/ all return HTTP 404, so no security or trust page exists.
- Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Enhancv's privacy policy still lists Nubela (Proxycurl) as its LinkedIn-parsing sub-processor, but Proxycurl announced on 4 July 2025 that it was shutting down after LinkedIn sued it in January 2025 over profile scraping — indicating the sub-processor disclosure is not actively maintained.
User Control & Transparency
3 items80
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Tailoring surfaces "every change highlighted but not applied automatically, so you stay in control," users "approve or reject each change, one click to apply, one click to undo," and individual checks can be switched on or off.
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
A "Human Oversight" clause states "You remain responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving your final resume before submission," and a "Limitations of AI" clause concedes "AI tools are not a guarantee of employment outcomes."
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Enhancv publishes a machine-readable disclosure page describing its AI features, and the described products — Chrome extension, job tracker and AI job board — save and organise postings without auto-applying.
Employer & ATS Legitimacy
4 items78
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The Chrome extension only detects and saves postings, capturing "position, company, job description, URL, type, location, salary," states it "only scans for job-related terms" and that "Personal or unrelated websites won't be stored in any capacity" — it does not submit applications.
https://enhancv.com/features/ai-job-application-tracker-chrome-extension/
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The checker is built by reverse-engineering mainstream ATS platforms including BambooHR, Greenhouse, Lever, SAP SuccessFactors and Workday, scoring how much of a resume parses correctly rather than gaming submission volume.
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Enhancv claims every template is tested against the parsers behind most Fortune 500 systems, such as Sovren and RChilli, and parses at 90% or higher — a quality-over-volume posture consistent with manual application.
- Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Enhancv's URL-based LinkedIn import fetches profiles server-side and its policy names Proxycurl, a scraper LinkedIn sued and forced to close, so the import path sits against LinkedIn's user agreement even though it carries little ban risk for the job seeker's own account.
Effectiveness Evidence
5 items52
- Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Enhancv describes a February-June 2026 study costing over $100,000, with about 150 senior professionals recruited via Respondent.io and interviewed by an independent researcher, reporting preference rates of 80% over Teal and around 60-70% over Resume.io, ResumeGenius, MyPerfectResume and Zety — but no link to full results and the measure is user preference, not hiring outcomes.
- Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The homepage asserts "28,452 users landed interviews last month" as a bare figure with no methodology, footnote or source link.
- AbsenceCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The resume checker documents its scoring construction (parse percentage plus issues found, across 27 checks in seven categories) and offers an "above 80 is mostly good" rule of thumb, but publishes no validation tying scores to real interview or callback rates.
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
The Terms honestly state that "AI tools are not a guarantee of employment outcomes" and cannot account for "the specific expectations of every employer."
- Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026
A one-star reviewer (Siddharth, 4 March 2026) alleges the resume checker returns "fake results so people feel their resume is lacking," a direct challenge to the score's validity.
Pricing & Cancellation Fairness

Structured pricing data on Enhancv's own pricing page lists a $0 7-day free plan, Pro Monthly at $39, Pro Quarterly at $69 (about $23/month) and Pro Semiannual at $99 (about $16.50/month), all in USD.
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Cancellation is fully self-service from the in-app Billing page with no requirement to contact support, and Pro access continues to the end of the paid billing period.

- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Quarterly and semiannual plans are eligible for partial pro-rated refunds, but "Any monthly fees paid hereunder are non-refundable and non-cancelable" and promo-code-reduced fees are non-refundable; cancelling does not itself trigger a refund.

- Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026
One-star reviews allege dark patterns and billing failures, including "Dishonest pricing - price doubles once you go past the first pricing page" (Andrew, 23 January 2026) and "They've been charging me for the past eight months, is impossible to cancel subscription" (M B, 8 June 2025); Enhancv replied to both.
Support & Accountability

- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Enhancv publishes a detailed year-by-year company history from its 2014-2015 founding in Sofia, a physical HQ at 9A Sinanishko Ezero Str., 1680 Sofia, Bulgaria, a 25-person distributed team across Sofia, Varna, Berlin and Utrecht, and a public contact address.
- Public statementCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Enhancv holds a 4.7/5 TrustScore across 975 reviews on a profile claimed since March 2019, and replies to 69% of negative reviews typically within a week — verified responsiveness rather than a disposable brand.
- DocumentationCaptured Sep 4, 2026
Support runs through a public help centre, help@enhancv.com and in-app access from the dashboard and editor, though the team scopes itself to account, billing and bug queries and declines resume feedback.

§ 05 - Editorial notes
Company overview
Enhancv is a resume-optimization product rather than an application-automation product, and that distinction drives most of its job-seeker risk profile. Founded in Sofia in 2014-2015 by three co-founders and now a fully remote team of roughly 25 across Bulgaria, Germany and the Netherlands, it says it has helped more than 7 million people produce over 10 million resumes since 2016. The paid tier bundles an AI assistant that rewrites bullets and drafts summaries, a resume checker scoring parse quality and content across 27 checks in seven categories, one-click tailoring against a pasted job description, plus a job tracker, an AI job board with match scores, a LinkedIn coach and mock interviews. Crucially, nothing in the product submits an application on the user's behalf: Enhancv produces a document the job seeker uploads themselves, and its Chrome extension only reads and saves postings from sites like LinkedIn, Indeed and Workday.
Regulatory exposure
The main job-seeker risks here are data-handling opacity and unvalidated scoring rather than account bans or blind mass-applying. On credentials, Enhancv is comparatively safe: it never asks for job-board or email passwords, social login runs through Google/LinkedIn/Facebook OAuth 2.0, and LinkedIn import works by pasting a public profile URL or uploading a PDF export. Payment data sits with Paddle and Braintree. The privacy policy names a full sub-processor list, including OpenAI, and both the policy and Terms carry explicit no-sell language, with the Terms adding that Enhancv does not sell or share personal data with AI model providers. Against that, the privacy policy contains zero mentions of encryption, offers only boilerplate 'appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures,' and Enhancv publishes no SOC 2, ISO 27001, security page or trust centre; the policy is also silent on whether resume content trains models. Its sub-processor list still names Nubela (Proxycurl) for LinkedIn parsing, a scraping API LinkedIn sued in January 2025 and which shut down in July 2025, which suggests the disclosure is not actively maintained. On honesty, the AI output is explicitly framed as grounded and non-inventive, changes surface as reviewable suggestions rather than silent edits, and the Terms place review and approval on the user, so fabrication risk is a matter of user discipline more than product design. The weakest link is the resume checker: its methodology is described in detail but never validated against real callback or interview outcomes, and the '80 is mostly good' threshold is an unpublished heuristic.
Path to a higher score
The cheapest credibility win is a security page: state encryption in transit and at rest, retention periods, and whether resume content is ever used to train models, then refresh the sub-processor list so it no longer names a vendor that shut down in 2025. A SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 report would move the data score furthest. On effectiveness, Enhancv should publish the 2026 commissioned study it references, including instrument and full results, and separately show any evidence linking checker scores to actual callback rates, or clearly label the score as a heuristic rather than a predictor. Substantiating or retiring the bare '28,452 users landed interviews last month' figure would remove the one claim most at odds with the otherwise careful tone of its Terms. On billing, reconciling the advertised pricing-page rate with what users report seeing at checkout, and softening the blanket non-refundability of monthly plans, would address the only recurring dark-pattern complaint in an otherwise well-rated support record.
