§ 05 - Editorial notes
Company overview
HeroHunt.ai is the trading name of Eevee Meets B.V., an Amsterdam company (KvK 81700334) founded in 2021 and led by co-founder and CEO Yuma Heymans. Its AI Recruiter, launched as Uwi in April 2024, takes a job description and searches a claimed 1 billion+ profiles from LinkedIn, GitHub, Xing, Stack Overflow and other sources. It scores and ranks the profiles with language models, then sends AI-personalised emails from the recruiter's own mailbox to the candidates the user approves. RecruitGPT, an outreach module, and a People Search API and MCP server with LinkedIn email and phone enrichment sit alongside it. Self-serve plans start at $149 a month. The website is mostly SEO content (2,964 URLs, including 1,318 agency-directory pages and 491 blog posts). Its headline claims of 98.7% match accuracy, 'GDPR and Privacy proof' and 'bias-free' recruiting come without supporting evidence.
Regulatory exposure
Scoring and ranking people for recruitment is the use case EU AI Act Annex III point 4 lists as high-risk. As an EU-established provider, HeroHunt will owe technical documentation, logging, human-oversight design, accuracy testing, conformity assessment and registration once the deferred obligations apply on 2 December 2027. GDPR is the more immediate exposure. HeroHunt is an independent controller of a large database of profiles collected from public websites and third-party providers. It relies on legitimate interests, and on a public notice under Art. 14(5)(b) instead of telling people individually, with the Dutch AP as its lead authority. In the US, NYC LL 144 reaches HeroHunt mainly where customers use its scores on people who applied for NYC roles, because DCWP's rules define candidates as applicants. Illinois HB 3773, by contrast, expressly covers AI used in recruitment. California's FEHA automated-decision rules, in force since 1 October 2025, reach tools that screen or rank and require four-year record retention. Colorado's SB 26-189 disclosure regime starts on 1 January 2027. HeroHunt's SaaS terms put compliance on customers and contain no DPA or AI-specific terms.
Path to a higher score
Publish technical documentation for the screening model: which language models it uses, what inputs and 'other factors' feed the match score, how the 98.7% and 99% accuracy figures were measured, and the model's known limitations. Commission and publish an independent bias audit of the match scores across sex, race/ethnicity and age, and drop the 'bias-free' claim until results support it. Give deployers support for the AI Act and GDPR: instructions for use, FRIA and DPIA inputs, a DPA, and a named sub-processor list that includes the model provider. Add a status page and a model-update changelog. Link the July 2026 candidate notice from every page, reconcile it with the older privacy policy, and tell sourced candidates that language models score and rank their profiles.
