§ 05 - Editorial notes
Company overview
HireLogic is an interview-intelligence tool. It joins phone, Zoom, Teams, Meet and in-person interviews, transcribes them, and returns AI notes, job-description coverage, candidate strengths and concerns, and flags for potentially discriminatory interviewer questions. It now also markets an asynchronous AI interview agent that asks dynamic follow-up questions and produces "automated relevance and depth of knowledge scores" for candidate qualification, plus NLP resume ranking across seven dimensions. Executives from Kingsley Gate Partners founded the company. It raised a $4M seed round in 2022 and a $6M Series A in 2023, both announced from Dallas, and LinkedIn still lists Dallas as its base. Its June 2025 terms, however, name Bytemethod.ai LLC, "the new name of Hirelogic, Inc.", at an address in McLean, Virginia. LinkedIn advertises pricing of $2 per interview.
Regulatory exposure
The AI interview scores and resume compatibility scores are the kind of simplified output that NYC Local Law 144 treats as an automated employment decision tool when employers rely on them for NYC roles. HireLogic publishes no bias audit summary, a gap that matters more now that DCWP has promised tougher enforcement after the December 2025 State Comptroller audit. The EU AI Act classes recruitment AI as high-risk (Annex III point 4), with obligations now deferred to 2 December 2027. HireLogic's public materials describe analysing transcripts, not the workplace emotion recognition banned since February 2025. Its recorded asynchronous video interviews likely bring in Illinois' AI Video Interview Act, alongside the AI-notice duty HB 3773 added from 1 January 2026. HireLogic listens to live calls, and its terms make customers "solely responsible" for notice and consent, yet it gives no guidance for all-party-consent states. Colorado's SB 26-189 disclosures (from 1 January 2027) and California's FEHA automated-decision rules, including four-year record retention, also fall on its customers.
Path to a higher score
The biggest gain would come from an independent bias audit of the AI interview scores and resume ranking, published as an LL 144-style summary. It should come with a methodology note or model card explaining how relevance and depth-of-knowledge scores are computed, validated and reviewed by humans. Claims such as "70% Less Bias" and "Bias-Free" should be backed with evidence or removed. The other categories would rise with a trust page naming the actual SOC 2 report (the site shows only a generic AICPA SOC logo), a sub-processor list and DPA, a candidate notice and consent kit for NYC, Illinois and all-party-consent states, EU AI Act deployer guidance, and a public status page. HireLogic should also clarify its legal identity (HireLogic, Inc. vs Bytemethod.ai LLC). It should also square "we do not persist audio or video" with the AI interview's recorded responses.
§ Regulatory frame
What applies to video interview ai.
The most heavily-regulated category. NYC LL 144 has applied since 2023; EU AI Act Annex III §4 treats the assessment layer as high-risk; Mobley v. Workday is shaping vendor-liability case-law here.
